La temporada de premios ha alcanzado un punto climático entre los amantes de la animación. Nos referimos, por supuesto, a las nominaciones de los Annie Awards que celebran lo mejor del arte animado. Un premio que históricamente ha sido dominado por las producciones estadounidenses, pero que en esta edición 2024 cuenta con una muy importante representación desde Iberoamérica y Asia. Una prueba irrefutable del crecimiento exponencial de las distintas industrias alrededor del mundo.

Hablando única y exclusivamente de nuestra región, destaca el reconocimiento a las producciones del bloque, pero también a artistas locales que han brillado en obras internacionales. En el primer caso sobresalen títulos como Robot Dreams, Carne de Dios, Humo y Sith. En el segundo, nombres como los de Esteban Bravo, Jesús Alonso Iglesias y Diego Porral.

Entre los aspectos más destacados sobresalen las cinco nominaciones de Robot Dreams, concretamente en las categorías de Película de animación independiente, Dirección, Guion, Diseño de personajes y Storyboard. Una situación que invita a pensar que la nominación al Oscar es posible.

En otras latitudes, sobresale el éxito de Nimona, la película más nominada al estar incluida en nueve ternas. ¡Una más que la sorprendente Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse! Caso contrario al de Wish, que no fue incluida en ninguna categoría. Una ironía, pues la adaptación a la novela gráfica de ND Stevenson a cargo de Blue Sky fue cancelada cuando Disney tomó posesión de Fox. Por su parte, la película que conmemora el Disney 100 marca la primera ocasión en toda la historia del certamen que el estudio se queda sin nominaciones.
